as the titled said.. it is tugu tani (picture taken in color, converted to black & white to emphasize the sillhouette of the statute). although i'm not quite sure what this monument is actuallly named, we referred to it as tugu tani.. but then again maybe it is named as it's always being referred to. (eh bener kan ini tugu tani? kalo salah.. please correct me!)

nothing ordinary from the way it looks, really. but i wonder what kind of stories it carries. i'm sure those of you who live in jakarta has passed it several times.. and maybe never really noticed what the monument portrays and how it came about to be placed in the middle of the intersection. who are the woman and the man it portrays? does she have a name? we can only guess that the woman is a farmer giving the harvest to the man, whom i figured a soldier. maybe a gift of thanks for protecting the village.. but maybe, to bribe for protection? well, i'm just shooting out assumptions here. i'm not sure how the story behind the statute, and i'm dying to know what the real history is behind it.

sadly, i tried to find out more about it, but i can't seem to find anything on the net. maybe i'm looking at the wrong places. maybe anyone can help?
